1:30 p.m. Worship Service Begins March 4

Zion Lutheran Church, 18 Quarry Road, Leola, announces a new worship opportunity. For a variety of reasons many people are not morning people; recognizing that reality Zion is launching a 1:30 p.m. service on Sunday, March 4. This service will feature both organ and piano music, two Bible readings, a message, prayer and the opportunity for communion for those who wish to receive it. This service will be held in the main worship space on the first Sunday of each month. There will not be a nursery because Zion encourages adults and children to worship God together. Everyone is welcome in God’s house! People who work second shift will be able to attend and leave from worship which will end around  2:30 p.m. The main purpose for this newly created service is to provide a worship experience for people who need a service outside the usual Sunday morning worship times.  For more information, call 717-656-9200.

Nathan Village: Potluck Dinner Social in March - We would like to have volunteers cook casserole style meats, chili, pasta, etc. for the residents of Nathan Village. They are both three bedroom apartments and have varying degrees of mechanical, carpentry, and cleaning work needed. As soon as they are in shape, we will be able to help two more families off the street. Both apartments are located in Leola. Open Door Youth Center Requests

The ODYC thanks you for all your support! We are again asking for contributions to the Open Door Youth Center. We can always use donations for snacks, meals, etc. Our food budget is small, and we now have a much larger crowd than we have had in the past. We feel the need for food as a tool for fellowship in the Center. It keeps us talking, laughing, and gives us an atmosphere of family as we sit together in small groups, eat, and have conversation. It builds our relationships. Please feel free to make any suggestions for this ministry.

All contributions are very much appreciated. We have put together a list of suggested items. We have discovered these items to be the most often requested for meals, snacks, etc, and are the least time-consuming for us, so we can spend more time with the Youth. This also helps to keep the waste of food to a minimum.

*Gift cards to Sharp Shopper, Giant Food Stores, Dollar General Stores

*Sodas, such as Fanta, Dr. Pepper, Cherry Coke, Sierra Mist are among the favorites but any contribution is appreciated

*Small bottles of water, approx. 4-6 oz. bottles (small bottles are less likely to be wasted)

*Bags of Tortilla chips, potato chips, pretzels, cookies, etc

*Assorted tortilla chips (small bags) for "walking tacos"

*Bread, butter (sticks preferred), American cheese

*Hot dogs and buns

*Hamburgers and buns

*Taco dinner boxed meals

*Stovetop stuffing

*Fresh Fruit

If you want to drop items off at the Center, we will arrange to meet you, you can bring them to Zion, or we will pick them up at your home, if needed. Again, please feel free to make suggestions for this ministry. If you would like a tax receipt, please let us know and we will get one for your from a Board Member.

Volunteers are also needed! The Center is open Monday and Thursday evenings, 6-9 p.m. Please contact Lynda Wolfe at opendooryouthcenter@gmail.com for more information. Thank you for your consideration in this ministry.
