Panera's Bread Pick-up

Zion participates in the "Day-End-Dough-Nation" Program at Panera's. Zion picks up the unsold bread products once a week and distributes the food to qualifying programs and agencies (those that are ill, needy, or infants). The programs and ministries that benefit are men and women prison ministry groups, food banks, and the community meals served in downtown Lancaster city.

Social Ministry

The Social Minsitry Committee plans events at group homes, nursing homes, and domestic violence homes in Lancaster County through out the year. In addition to those events, they collect food for Harvest Homes, Christmas stocking items for Luther Acres, hats, mittens and scarves for social agencies, Christmas gifts for the residents of Bridge House, donations for 'Souper Bowl' and along with Zion's Preteen Youth Group host a special Sunday Service honoring Zion's members that are 80+ in years.

Leola Community Egg Hunt and Wise Sage Hunt

Zion holds an Easter Egg Hunt each year for ages up through 6th grade. This fun time begins with music and motion from the M and M music team and a puppet show. After all the eggs have been found, refreshments are served in the Multi-Purpose Room. The 4th, 5th, and 6th graders have a special game where they must answer questions and perform feats for the Sages and Wizards. The youth love this part of the egg hunt - something a little extra special for the older children. Check out our photo gallery page for more pictures.

Food Drives for Food Banks

shelter

Lancaster City Overflow Shelter

Zion partners with Chestnut Street Mennonite to staff the Overflow Shelter at James Street Mennonite. During the cold months of November through March, shelter is provided for people in the city of Lancaster. In this ministry, guests are welcomed to the shelter, given beds and linens and served beverages and snacks. On some occasions, people will just want to share their story and have someone listen to them.
