About The Event
Beginning on Monday, October 4 from 7 – 8:30 p.m. Pastor/Chaplain Scott Davis will lead an informal grief support group for members and friends of Zion. The vision of this gathering time in midst of varied losses is to accompany one another in the seasonal journey through grief to give it meaning and discover some sense of resolution and new beginnings. While many might limit the definition of grief to death, Pastor Davis will consider a broader definition of grief to include material (property) loss, relational loss (divorce, empty-nest), role loss (unemployment, retirement), functional loss (disabling conditions), and intrapsychic loss (dream, purpose): all our losses and all our grievings.
Our tentative outline of sessions (may be modified to meet the group’s expressed needs): • Rounding Up—introduction and expectations • Remembering—life before the loss • Reaffirming—the person you are • Realizing—how life and you are changing/have changed • Releasing—the pain and emptiness • Rolling On—discovering a “new now”
Come to one, a few, or all sessions! A member of Zion, Pastor Davis is a retired pastor, former certified chaplain educator, and retired board certified chaplain who continues to serve as part-time chaplain at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital where he shares his experience in perinatal loss, trauma, burn, rehabilitation, surgical, and behavioral health spiritual care.
